Running ZFS on Linux

Well in recent days the ZFS on FUSE project has made enough progress to have a useable file system up and running. I've assigned one spare partition to it:

zpool status
NAME SIZE USED AVAIL CAP HEALTH ALTROOT
pool1 27.8G 18.0G 9.76G 64% ONLINE -

It's nice to be able to do a scrub and see no errors. One of these days I'll get a new drive (or new PC) and set aside some real space for it. Right now (since the project is still alpha quality) I'm really just using it to store stuff that I could download again if needed to, which frees up some space from my main partitions.

For an alpha release it seems fine in terms of performance, and should get better. I've reported one bug so far which has already been fixed (thanks Ricardo!)

I've been watching out every night for last 10 days or so for Comet McNaught, and McNaught is what I've seen. Just endless clouds. Incredibly annoying. Again tonight. Sigh. It's getting fainter every night and the moon is getting brighter, so already I've missed the best of it.
It posed nicely for the Herald.
